Robots are great!
They are a great tool to make learning technology a funny activity where you can share ideas, compete against others and learn tons of new things.
They are great because they combine a lot of different topics, so they force you to have a general picture of how they work. To make a robot work you learn electronics, mechanics, programming languages, communication protocols… And you have some physical object to play with! It’s not just a screen with code!
Don’t be afraid, they don’t bite! And you don’t need any previous knowledge, you can start from zero and learn the basics.
