Paste-Extruder for FabLab Zürich

This is going to be in english to have more people to benefit from our experience…

The aim is to have a printer that can print all kinds of pastes… from clay and ceramics to food and play-doh…

We have:

– One old non-working BitfromBites printer (dual extruder)
– One Ultimaker-board 1.5.7
– One Ulti-controller
– Lots of existing experimental paste-extuder designs such as: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:28018,  http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:25195,  http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:15538

Progess so far:

– The BfB is stripped down
– a lasercutted plate protect ans cools the Ultimaker board
– The Ultimaker-board is connected to xyz steppers. They can be moved via prepare/move axis/ via Ulticontroller.
– The board has a MINTEMP Error because there is no thermosensor attached to the board.
– the firmware needs some changes… Steppermotors are different and have a diff. step/mm-ratio
– endstops have div. Positions…
– the printed rotor and coupler seems to be too week and break. scaling in x and y could be a nice solution!

If someone wants to help and/or has some good insights/ideas: you are very welcome!
